The Afghanistan War is called "The Forgotten War II," the Korean War was number one, and the most forgotten fighters in the Afghanistan war are the Canadian troops who are doing an outstanding job fighting the Taliban.

The US could see as many as 300 to 500 soldiers killed and wounded per month in Afghanistan as 30,000 additional troops are sent to the country to launch a major offensive against insurgents, retired Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey said in a recent report.

McCaffrey, who is currently a professor of international affairs at the US Military Academy at West Point, said the surge will cost taxpayers about $300 billion due to a larger US presence. McCaffrey has visited Afghanistan numerous times since 2003 to assess the security situation on the ground

MORE DETAILS ON U.S. LED FORCES KILLING SCHOOLCHILDREN IN AFGHANISTAN

US-Led Forces Accused of Executing Schoolchildren in Afghanistan

http://www.democracynow.org/2010/1/6/us_led_forces_accused_of_executing

In Afghanistan, hundreds have taken to the streets of Kabul and elsewhere to protest the US killing of civilians.

The incident that has sparked the most outrage took place in eastern Kunar on December 27th, when ten Afghans, eight of them schoolchildren, were killed.

According to the Times of London, US-led troops dragged innocent children from their beds and shot them during a nighttime raid.

Afghan government investigators said the eight students were aged from eleven to seventeen, all but one of them from the same family.

U.N. ENVOY WARNS U.S. OF POSSIBLE DEFEAT IN AFGHANISTAN

This report is not surprising to a blogger like myself who has been reporting on the Afghanistan War since it started.

The United States is in way over their head in Afghanistan and no amount of troops is going to save the mission.

The Taliban have shown they have the know-how and the strength to defeat the United States and the countries that are supposed to be fighting alongside of our troops have virtually abandoned Afghanistan.

Here is the latest report from a U.N. envoy to Afghanistan:

UN’s Afghanistan Envoy Warns U.S. of Possible Defeat, FT Reports

Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan and the government of President Hamid Karzai face defeat by the Taliban unless “negative trends” are reversed soon, Kai Eide, who steps down in March as United Nations envoy in Kabul, told the UN Security Council yesterday, the Financial Times reported.

Eide said he’s concerned about increasing public impatience with the Afghan involvement in the countries that have sent troops, the frustration of Afghans whose expectations have been disappointed and the increasingly assertive insurgency, the newspaper reported.

AFGHAN WAR KILLS THREE CHILDREN A DAY: PEOPLE IN U.S SAY "SO WHAT"

Nothing absolutely nothing can make the people in the United States care about the war in Afghanistan.

Not even the fact that our troops are killing at least three Afghan children A DAY.

The general consensus among Americans is "so what."

AFGHANISTAN: "THE FORGOTTEN WAR" ONLY THOSE SERVING IN OUR MILITARY CARE. VIDEO

The Afghanistan War has quickly taken over from "The Korean War" as "The Forgotten War." The unfortunate part of the Afghanistan War is very few Americans know or care anything about the war. Much of this can be blamed on the mainstream media who have closed the door on coverage of the Afghanistan War.

The few people who care are the men and women serving in our Armed Forces in Afghanistan and their families back home.

It is a sad commentary, but a very true commentary.

Ask yourself how many young men and women do you know in the military? The answer is staggering because the vast majority of Americans don't have a loved one in the military nor do they even know anyone in the military.
