COMBAT ENGINEERS: IT ALL LOOKS SO FAMILIAR TO ME

Combat Engineer 21B Essayons Ranger Special Forces Sapper. This all looks so familiar. The uniforms are different, but it is the same basic training this blogger, a former Army Combat Engineeer ("Sapper") went through during the Korean War. Our motto was: "Let Us Try."
Sappers specialize in clearing mine fields and booby traps as well as planting explosives to blow the hell out of the enemy. We would build bridges, airfields and roads clearing a path for the infantry. In short, we are the backbone of a combat mission. Gen. Douglas MacArthur once said he could not have done it without the untiring efforts of the Combat Engineers.

This is a great music video showing our troops in Afghanistan. Most people, especially the news media, are not interested in what our troops are doing in Afghanistan but somewhere somebody has a son, daughter, husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend serving in the United States miliary in Afghanistan. It's just a crying shame the media has abandoned our troops. The media has, but this former Army Combat Engineer and blogger will never forget our brave troops.

The Pech Valley, one of the most dangerous places in the world, is on of the major gates terrorists use between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The ridge in the front left of the screen was lobbing mortars into this base and this is the result. Good times.

IRAQ IS FALLING APART: 3 KILLED IN CAR BOMBING. 20 INJURED

Everyone knew that it was only a matter of time until the insurgents resurfaced and began their attacks on the US military and Iraqi citizens.
On Tuesday 3 people were killed near Baghdad by a car bomb and 20 more were wounded.
Three mortar rounds were fired into the American Embassy in the Green Zone where Vice President Biden was visiting.
Iraq is going to hell in a hand basket.

NEWS ALERT: "GREEN ZONE" HIT BY AT LEAST 3 MORTAR ROUNDS DURING BIDEN VISIT

BAGHDAD —Three large explosions near the American embassy shook downtown Baghdad Tuesday night, at the same time as Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. was scheduled to be in the compound visiting with American officials.

It was unclear if he was in the building at the time of the attack.

There were no immediate reports of casualties and it was unclear if the American embassy itself had been struck, according to witnesses.

The first mortar landed short of the embassy, according to a western security official who witnessed the attack. That rocket fell within an apartment across the street where local Iraqis live.

A second mortar landed at about 7:10 p.m., but it was unclear where it landed.
