Kurdish forces on brink of recapturing Iraq's biggest dam from Islamic State Mosul Dam, which Islamic State fighters seized a week ago, target of attack by Kurds with US air support in what would represent biggest victory against jihadists since they launched their sweeping offensive through Iraq in early June tanding by their machine guns on mounted pick-ups, Kurdish peshmerga fighters watched through binoculars as the jihadists from the Islamic State drove to rescue their dying colleagues from the aftermath of an American airstrike.

ISIS may be worth 500 million dollars and they are attracting more extremeists fighters.
The Islamic militant organization not only plans to take control of Iraq, but they have plans to attack inside the United States. Many of the ISIS militants are from the United States and they have passports that would allow them back into the USA.

In Iraq, radical Islamist militants linked to al-Qaeda are reportedly planning to take Baghdad, after successfully advancing in the north. It's thought the government's now asked the US to carry out drone strikes against the insurgents. Marina Portnaya explains how that might mean Washington engaging against its own military hardware.
President Bush dismantled the Iraqi Army and that has contributed to the problem in Iraq.
