Loyal Dog didn't leave fallen Navy Seal

Jon Tumilson, a Navy SEAL, was one of 30 Americans killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 6 when a rocket-propelled grenade took out a U.S. Chinook helicopter.

During funeral, his loyal dog Hawkeye lays down brokenhearted near his casket.

When Tumilson's friend Scott Nichols walked to the front of the room to speak, Hawkeye followed, Today.com reports. "As Nichols prepared to memorialize his friend, Hawkeye dutifully laid down near the casket,"

Loving animals as I do, I know how much sadness this dog feels at losing his best friend. Seeing it makes me remember that we should all be crying over this loss. How sad.

Greg, It's true here in the States. The press says the public is suffering from "war fatigue" and their readership surveys indicate after 10 year in Afghanistan people just do not want to hear or read about the war anymore. I can see the public's point of view, but I feel sorry for our troops because the same ones keep getting sent back again and again to Afghanistan. Better we just end the whole thing and bring everyone home.
