GEN. McCHRYSTAL DOESN'T HAVE A STRATEGY FOR AFGHANISTAN ACCORDING TO STEPHEN HOLMES, THE DAILY BEAST.

The Daily Beast writer Stephen Holmes (http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-09-29/strategy-what-strategy/?cid=hp:beastoriginalsR4) argues that the problem with Gen. Stanley McChrystal's strategy for Afghanistan is the General really doesn't have a strategy.

McChrystal wants another 40,000 troops sent to Afghanistan, but the question becomes what are they supposed to do?

Al Queda is no longer in Afghanistan and has moved their operations to Pakistan.

The Taliban are bands of tribal units who don't answer to any single person or government.

And, finally, there is doubt in many quarters that the recent Afghanistan election was on the up and up.

In short, Afghanistan is a mess and more troops is not the answer.
