KABUL (AP) - A bomb and small-arms attack on a vehicle has killed three U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.

The military says today's attack took place in a province just north of the capital of Kabul and the site of Bagram, the main U.S. base in Afghanistan.

Another soldier was injured but the nationality was not released.

The area is considered a stronghold of insurgents loyal to an Afghan warlord. It was the third attack in less than a week near the Bagram base.

Taliban militants are behind a wave of attacks that are destabilizing Afghanistan eight years after their regime was ousted by a U.S.-led invasion.

President Barack Obama's administration has ordered 21,000 new U.S. troops to join the fight this year.
