MEMO TO PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA: WHY SHOULD THESE AFGHAN CHILDREN CONTINUE TO SUFFER? (TOUCHING VIDEO)

This video is directed at President-elect Barack Obama.

Don't listen to the warmongers like Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

There is absolutely no reason for U.S. troops to be still in Afghanistan seven years after invading the country.

We have accomplished NOTHING.

And now the press is saying President-elect Obama plans to send an additional 30,000 U.S. troops into Afghanistan.

To do WHAT?

Kill all the kids shown in this video?

RUSSIA AND GREAT BRITAIN COULDN'T BEAT THE AFGHANS. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK WE CAN?

Cork, quicksand is quicksand, whether it's in Florida (near lake Okechobee), Massachusetts (the Hockomock Swamp), Alaska (the infamous mudlats), Georgia (the Okefenokee Swamp), or Morecambe Bay in England. That being said, it doesn't matter which country--the US can't afford to get bogged down any further in the Middle East (or any other area for that matter). No one wins, the idea of flags and "victory" parades are only a feel-good-make-us more-a-belligerent-bully mechanism. I'm afraid that Obama has to dance to many of the right-wing's tunes. I'm hoping that he can break away and be his own man. Even if we were to bring all the troops home (which we should work to do), we're STILL faced with reparations and welfare going to the ones whose countries we've damaged and whose people we've killed (so-called collateral damage).

Anonymous: Thanks so very much for your very well thought out and constructive comment to the post on my blog.

IMO Obama should think long and hard before sending more troops into what could be the same as LBJ encountered in Vietnam.

Just say we won and get out and send humanitarian relief, but no more troops.
