CNN REPORTS: TWO MARINES DISCIPLINED OVER PUPPY TOSSING INCIDENT. WE HAVE UNCUT VIDEO : PLUS VIDEO OF ANGELINA JOLIE EATING WITH U.S. TROOPS

Attention all readers: Scroll to bottom of this post for late breaking events on this topic.

Who can ever forget the YouTube video of the two Marines tossing a puppy off a cliff in Iraq? I know this blogger won't. Outside of a video of Angelina Jolie eating with U.S. troops in Iraq, I don't think there was ever a post on this blog that drew more attention.

Scroll down to see story and video of ANGELINA JOLIE eating with U.S. troops in Iraq in February.

The video was pulled by YOUTUBE, but we have an uncut version of the puppy tossing event by the two Marines and you can view it here: http://my.break.com/content/view.aspx?ContentID=463231

However, the United States Marine Corps has now disciplined the two U.S. Marines involved in the incident and CNN is reporting the story here:

2 Marines disciplined over puppy-tossing video

Story Highlights
Lance Cpl. David Motari faces removal; Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion punished
Video surfaced March 3 on YouTube showing a Marine tossing a puppy over a cliff
The Marines condemned the incident, calling it "shocking and deplorable"

(CNN) -- The U.S. Marine Corps has disciplined two Marines over a videotape that showed a Marine throwing a puppy over a cliff, the military said Wednesday.

Officials did not specify the role that each man played in the incident, which received international attention after a video of it appeared on YouTube.com March 3.

Lance Cpl. David Motari is being processed for removal for his role, the Marine Corps said, and Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion also has been punished.

The video shows someone throwing a black-and-white puppy off a rocky cliff. The dog makes a yelping sound as it flies through the air.

"That's mean. That was mean," someone off-camera is heard saying.

YouTube removed the video about a day after it was posted, "due to terms of use violation," the site said.

We, however, have a copy of the video but not from YouTube and you can view it here: http://my.break.com/content/view.aspx?ContentID=463231

The Marines were quick to condemn the video when it surfaced, calling it "shocking and deplorable."

Marine officials said the disciplinary action followed a thorough investigation, according to a statement that the Marine Corps Base Hawaii released Wednesday.

Guess its okay that most countries have no problem with someone eating a dog, pit bull fighting em, or that we lock ours up in crowded pens till they are "put to sleep."

What the young man did was dumb, but it was no more cruel than the puppy's fate of starving to death or being eaten by a pack of wild dogs--either of which was sure to happen within days.

If the actual harshness of life in Iraq really bothers you so much, show you are a man of action. Get off your duff and go to Iraq, help these 'liberated' folks improve their lives as you see fit. There's lots to do there and Afghanistan.

Mike S: If you had read my bio on my blog you would have known I served in the United States Army and I'm a Korean War veteran.

Plus, I'm a reporter and I'm simply reporting what kind of punishment the Marines handed out to the two Marines. I didn't say I agreed with it. I just report and I don't make judgements.

Perhaps the next time you decide to jump all over me, you might want to know a little bit more about me by reading my bio which is on the righthand side of this blog.

It's not just about the puppy. It's about the cheapening of life and yes, I know war cheapens life by it's very nature.

It's about cruelty to innocent beings.. it's about the other soldiers who stood around and watched, the one who filmed, and yes, Motari himself.

It's about a mindset...

Good riddance Motari.. the whole Marine Corp suffered from your stupidity. And they didn't deserve it.

I can only hope that I will someday have the opportunity of pushing him off a cliff.

Also, to Mike S., how could you chalk up someone throwing a puppy off of a cliff to the normal way of life in Iraq. The people of Iraq are not monsters.

We should never have gone there in the first place so why go now? Send Bushco over there to do the clean up. They made the mess.

Two things here: the public relations mess and needless cruelty these two Marines have caused in probable justification of their manhood and "warrior spirit". What causes people to act in such an atrocious manner?

My fear is that individuals like these two Marines are not only representative of the values of my country, but also the type of none-thinking brutes that become citizens and neighbors to the rest of us (read the note from Mike S. to see what I mean).

Remember the Vietnam era baby killers? The debacle at Abu Gairahb(sp) prison? My point is simply this, all we need is one "oh shit, to erase a thousand "atta boys!".

I'm proud of our military and I honor them. I'm just as proud that the Marine leadership has seen this act for the murder that is was and has taken steps to discipline the few that dishonor such an elite fighting force.

I don't care what anybody says. What is going on in Iraq is not a war. It is now just an occupation. The individual who did that should be thrown off a cliff himself. We shouldn't be there now, and shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Best and the brightest...gimme a break!

Please there is NO justification for killing a PUPPY! There is something wrong with a person who would, to say that some countries eat them or fight them does not make it right. What kind of man, nevermind, a MARINE, would take pride in killing a 5lb puppy!? Does that take guts, strength or skill?!

WHAT COLD-HEARTED BASTARDS!! THEIR MOTHERS ARE MORE THAN LIKELY EMBARASSED TO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE RAISED SONS WITH NO COMPASSION AT ALL. I WOULD BE SO ASHAMED OF THEM. IS THIS WHAT THE MARINES ARE ABOUT? THEIR COMMERCIAL ADVERTISES THE EXACT OPPOSITE. I AGREE WITH THE OTHERS; TOSS THEM OFF A CLIFF.....

Mike S. should take a moment to recognize a veteran before he inserts his foot in his mouth...

This is one of the most disgusting things I can think of a person doing to an innocent animal who was probably baited with food.

If those who are responsible for protecting life have such a cavalier attitude toward the helpless it scares me to think what other things these people may have done that did not get discovered.

Lock them up and throw away the key including but not limited to any bystanders who just watched and did not try to stop it.

Mike S. get a clue, if this was your animal I highly doubt that you would say "oops, that was dumb, I forgive you."

So I wonder if they are gonna come after them any kind of way like they went after Mike Vick... hey a dead dog is a dead dog. Probably not, cause they were White marines... they'll just get a slap on the wrist...

It's interesting that Mike S. mentions that "most countries have no problems with someone eating a dog, pit bull fighting em" etc, as though this excuses the behavior. Many countries also stone women to death. It's pathetic that this cavalier, if-he-jumps-off-a-cliff-I-will-too, sheep-like attitude is all too commonplace in today's society. People like this need to think for themselves, and also educate themselves on the strong link between animal cruelty and violence toward human beings.

I do not understand how anyone with a minimum of humanity could do that. This is disgusting and a total disgrace to the Marines corp and the US. These guys should be fired and not even repatriated to the US. Let them rot in Irak.

Anonymous said...

If I had been there to see that dog being thrown...I can assure you...he would have followed right after!
There was no excuse for what he did..PERIOD! The dog was probably looking for some kindness or handout just trying to survive.
Let all who whitnesed this and did nothing to stop it rot out there!
Marine or not

Thanks to ALL who commented about my post on the Marines tossing a puppy off a cliff in Iraq.

And thanks also to those who let Mike S. know he put his foot in his mouth when he went after me when he didn't take the time to read my bio which is on this blog and shows I served in the Army as a Combat Engineer in the Korean War.

I'd say Mr. Gung Ho owes me an apology.

I think what this incident serves is to show how dehumanising the situation in Iraq (and war in general) is and highlights how desperately the young troops who are serving long TODs in Iraq need councelling and support to reconcile what they see and hear every day. I hope that the young man who killed this poor pup in such a pointless way just for giggles gets the help he desperately needs. Harming animals for fun is one of the major steps toward harming humans for fun.

Mia: Thanks for your comment, and you make a very good point about harming innocent animals leads harming innocent people. Excellent point.

Thanks again for contributing to my blog.

Great, so now Motari will be over HERE! Send him back to Iraq and leave him there. Otherwise, I'm sure he'll be a cop or a prison guard in no time.

Thanks for the blog, Mr. Corcoran. I think we can all feel what this Marine barbarian has done without having to view your video posted here.

Please...what do we have to gain by watching the "uncut", or any other type of video version.

I don't see any value in this. Would you please consider deleting the video from your site?

They should dismiss Motari right there, on the spot... don't send him home, just discharge him on the spot in Iraq, take away his uniform and let the ignorant jerk fend for himself....

I agree! And just look at the comment Kathleen Motari wrote about how having "fun"---- Obviously the whole family's idea of fun is sick and twisted.

"The Marines may be all about work but they have fun as well....They were stationed in Hawaii doing missions up in the mountains when they got hungry. They came out of the woods and found a house and took down the address to call a pizza place. The delivery man didn’t want to come all the way up there because it was really far. Finally they convinced him to. The Marines waited in the trees and bushes until the pizza man came. When the delivery man pulled up, all the Marines jumped out of the bushes with their face paint on and their guns. The pizza man was too scared to get out of the car! They gave him an extra tip for going through the hassle to go that far. So after, they hopped back in the bushes and ate their pizza!"

How twisted is that????

No. It happened just like the pictures of the D-Day invastion happened and are still shown today 60 years later.

And thanks to others for your comments on my blog re this incident. I just updated it because the Marine Corps kicked out one Marine and disciplined the other.

I will keep the video on my blog because it shows what happened. How many times did you see the picture of that little girl burned in Vietnam from Napalm crying and naked as she ran down the road? That little girl is now in her 50s and I would bet she is glad the world got to see what the Americans had done to her.
