Iraqi soldier kills 2 American troops

BAGHDAD - An Iraqi soldier allegedly shot dead two American troops while they were patrolling together north of the capital, the U.S. military and an Iraqi official said Saturday. The Iraqi official said the suspect has links to militant groups.
Three other U.S. soldiers and a civilian interpreter were wounded in the Dec. 26 attack, the military said in a statement. The shooting occurred as American and Iraqi soldiers were trying to establish a combat outpost in Ninevah province in northern Iraq.
According to Brig. Mutaa Habib Jassim al-Khazrachi, commander of the Iraqi army's 2nd Division, an initial investigation has indicated that the Iraqi soldier has links to local militant groups.

Baghdad, Jan 5, (VOI)- At least seven people were wounded on Saturday afternoon as a bomb stashed in a minibus exploded, a police source said.The source told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq the blast took place "on the road linking al-Doura neighborhood to Baghdad al-Jadidah in southeastern Baghdad."Iraqi "security forces immediately cordoned off the area and banned civilians from coming close to the blast location," he said.SK

Baghdad, Jan 5, (VOI)- Iraqi police patrols on Saturday found 12 unknown bodies dumped in different parts of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a police source said."Police patrols found 12 unidentified bodies in different areas of Baghdad, most of them were found in Baghdad's western side (al-Karkh)," the source told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI)."Nine corpses were found in different neighborhoods of al-Karkh: six in al-Doura, two in al-Aamel and one in al-Saydiya," he explained."Three more bodies were found in neighborhoods of Zayounah, al-Jaderiyah and Baghdad al-Jadidah in Rasafa, eastern side of Baghdad," the source added."Most of the bodies found bore signs of gunshot wounds to different parts of the body, mainly to the head," he noted.SK
