I was a reporter and columnist for 40 years for a chain of newspapers in the suburbs of Chicago. I'm a military veteran having served in the United States Army Combat Engineers (Cpl. E-4) and a Korean War veteran with an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States of America
The older version of this type of weapons system - using the "hard launch method" can literally be a pain to launch, As in like being punched in the chest by a 200-pound boxer every time you fire one. Even a trained Navy SEAL can only fire 5 of those old Javelins a day - and even then this requires a once-over by the nearest medic or corpsman to check for blast damage to ones lungs.
