NO SURPRISE HERE! REPUBLICANS PUT OIL AHEAD OF TROOPS' LIVES

There should be no surprise for anyone who has been watching the news since we invaded Iraq under the pretense of WMD and we would obtain Iraq oil.   Now Republicans are saying we need to invade Syria to protect oil interests in the region.

Every story of a fallen soldier over the Memorial Day weekend mentioned they had been on their third or fourth deployment to Afghanistan when they were killed by the Taliban.

The Republicans want us to go to war with Syria and their mouthpiece, FOX NEWS, has been hammering away at why we need to go to war with Syria.  The latest excuse is to provide protection for oil sources.

It never ceases to amaze this Army veteran how Republicans are so quick to want to go to war, but in their own cases or that of their children or grandchildren they bust their asses to keep them from enlisting.

FOUR GIS KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO WATCH THIS VIDEO AND SAY A PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS STILL AT WAR

CLICK ON ARROW OR YOU TUBE LOGO TO PLAY THIS VIDEO

Please take a moment over the Memorial Day weekend to watch this video and say a prayer for our troops who are still at war in Afghanistan and deployed around the world.

The Afghanistan War has become the second "forgotten war."   I served in the Army during the first "forgotten war," the Korean War.

There are still close to 100,000 young men and women in our Armed Forces deployed to Afghanistan, but you would never know it by reading the newspapers or watching TV.

President Obama has promised to withdraw all combat troops from Afghanistan by 2014.  Frankly, I feel Obama should pull all of our troops out of Afghanistan and turn over the security to the ANA (Afghanistan National Army).

The interest in the war in Afghanistan has sunk to an all-time low in the United States.

It is a dirty rotten shame so few people care about our troops in Afghanistan.

The mission in Afghanistan is a total mess.  Over$2 billion a week in US taxpayer money is being spent to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan.  France is planning on pulling their troops out in the next few months.  Obama will begin to drawdown US troops in 2013.  According to reliable sources, the Taliban are poised to again takeover Afghanistan the minute US and NATO forces leave the coutry.

Missile Flight Test THIS IS COOL!

CLICK ON ARROW TO WATCH VIDEO

gloSecond-Generation Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System Completes Successful Intercept Flight Test The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and U.S. Navy sailors aboard the USS LAKE ERIE (CG 70) successfully conducted a flight test of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) system, resulting in the first intercept of a short-range ballistic missile target over the Pacific Ocean by the Navy's newest Missile Defense interceptor, the Standard Missile -- 3 (SM-3) Block 1B. At 8:18 p.m. Hawaiian Standard Time (2:18 a.m. EDT May 10) the target missile was launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, located on Kauai, Hawaii. The target flew on a northwesterly trajectory towards a broad ocean area of the Pacific Ocean. Following target launch, the USS LAKE ERIE detected and tracked the missile with its onboard AN/SPY-1 radar. The ship, equipped with the second-generation Aegis BMD 4.0.1 weapon system, developed a fire control solution and launched the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IB interceptor. The USS LAKE ERIE continued to track the target and sent trajectory information to the SM-3 Block IB interceptor in-flight. The SM-3 maneuvered to a point in space, as designated by the fire control solution, and released its kinetic warhead. The kinetic warhead acquired the target, diverted into its path, and, using only the force of a direct impact, engaged and destroyed the threat in a hit-to-kill intercept. Today's event, designated Flight Test Standard Missile-16 (FTM-16) Event 2a, was the first successful live fire intercept test of the SM-3 Block IB interceptor and the second-generation Aegis BMD 4.0.1 weapon system. Previous successful intercepts were conducted with the Aegis BMD 3.6.1 weapon system and the SM-3 Block IA interceptor, which are currently operational on U.S. Navy ships deployed across the globe..

HEART-WARMING VIDEO OF A FALLEN SOLDIER'S LAST WISH

Don't miss this heart-warming video of a fallen soldier's last wish to his family.

Read story and watch video here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/05/captain-hays_n_1479634.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl8%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D158266

Thanks to the time and money of hundreds of volunteers and well-wishers, a fallen soldier's last wish -- a gift to his beloved wife -- has been fulfilled, 9News reports.
Several years ago, Bruce Hays purchased a battered 1959 Chevrolet Apache pickup truck for his wife, Terry, as an anniversary gift.
“I used to tell Bruce about how, when we were kids, we would go to the drive-in in my dad’s Chevy Apache," Terry told Fox News. "He remembered that. He knew how much it meant to me."
Though the truck was an old wreck when he bought it, Hays had hoped that he and his wife would be able to restore it together.
But before they got the chance, Hays -- a captain in the Wyoming Army National Guard -- was deployed to Afghanistan.
Less than a month later, in September 2008, Captain Hays was killed by a roadside bomb, leaving behind his wife and their family.
He also left behind a final, uncompleted gift for his family -- that old Chevy Apache.
Before he left for Afghanistan, 9News reports that Hays paid a local mechanic $17,000 to restore the truck. It was to be a surprise gift for his wife.

Unfortunately, it was soon learned that the man Hays had hired had taken the money and fled. By the time law enforcement caught up with the mechanic, he had already
spent the money and had left the truck in several pieces.
When friends of Hays heard about this, they knew they had to act -- honoring a soldier's sacrifice by helping complete the final gift for his wife.
With the help of Kent Stevinson, president of Stevinson Automotive, students from WyoTech, a local technical school, community volunteers and donors nationwide who contributed parts and money to the Captain Bruce Hays Chevrolet Apache Project , the pick-up truck was finally restored.
In February, Capt. Hays's gift to his wife was delivered to her home in Las Cruces, N.M., Fox News reports.
“Sitting in the truck is like having his arms around us, giving us comfort,” Terry said.
“They’ve really captured his spirit. The truck is a beautiful symbol of American strength and unity," she added.
According to 9News, donations to the Captain Bruce Hays Chevrolet Apache Project not only covered the cost of restoring the truck, but also provided seed money for a scholarship fund, which will be offered to veterans and their children attending WyoTech.
To donate to the project or to learn more, visit the Captain Bruce Hays Chevrolet Apache Project's website.
