American servicemen slain in country's volatile south, NATO says

KABUL - Two American service members have been killed in a bomb attack in southern Afghanistan, U.S. forces said Friday.
NATO forces said the insurgent attack occurred Friday but did not provide further details. Navy Lt. Robert Carr confirmed those killed were American.
The United States has pushed thousands of additional troops into the volatile south in an attempt to rout out the resurgent Taliban.
The U.S. has 59,000 troops in Afghanistan, nearly double the number a year ago.
