KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Casualties from the powerful blast that targeted Shiite visitors in Karbala earlier today rose to 23 dead and 147 wounded persons, a local medic said on Wednesday.
“Al-Husseini hospital received 10 bodies, including two belonging to children and 55 wounded persons, including two kids and 10 women; al-Nesaaiya hospital received one wounded woman; while al-Hindiya hospital, (20 km east of Karbala), received 13 corpses and 91 injured persons,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.Earlier today, eyewitnesses said that a blast hit Fariha area, killing and wounding dozens of people.
Karbala is 110 km southwest of Baghdad.
